Our Collective Approach

Harnessing the Power of the Collective to Transform Young Lives

Sanofi Foundation – A “Think and Do Tank”

Transforming young lives requires more than good intentions - it demands evidence, expertise and action. We operate as a "Think & Do Tank": a dynamic platform where rigorous research, global expertise and the lived experience of young people converge to generate solutions that are innovative, effective and proven.

As a Think Tank, we partner with world-leading researchers, global thought leaders and young people themselves to identify, test and validate the most effective interventions. Data and evidence sit at the heart of everything we do - ensuring every solution is grounded in what works at scale, in the real world. As a Do Tank, we translate that evidence into action, deploying targeted funding, advocacy and impact initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa, Brazil, China, India and France that deliver measurable results.

Youth are not passive beneficiaries - they are co-creators and architects of change, bringing irreplaceable insight to the solutions designed to serve them. This is how we move from insight to impact with purpose, precision and proof.

Our Philosophy in Practice

From global councils to local coalitions, we create collectives that turn insight into implementation and impact – here are some examples of how we're driving transformation through the power of partnership.

Local Solutions Campus Africa

In the most vulnerable countries and communities, individuals and groups, especially youth, are organizing to confront the impacts of health challenges on their daily lives. Local solutions are community-driven initiatives and innovations that directly address adaptation needs, cutting across health determinants, agricultural production, and economic and social activities. These innovations, whether mature or emerging, spontaneous or organized, at the family or community level, both reduce vulnerability and actively strengthen resilience.

Local solutions, emerging from participatory and inclusive processes, are grounded in the specific realities and needs of communities, enabling sustainable and resilient change. By building on local knowledge, capacities, and resources, they are inherently durable, adaptable, and scalable, amplifying their impact on health resilience. External contributions play a catalytic role, helping these initiatives grow, connect, and reach larger populations without displacing local ownership.

The Local Solutions Campus, launched in October 2024 in Dakar (Senegal), brings this vision to life by convening a diverse ecosystem of stakeholders, innovators, and organizations across Africa and Asia, including local actors from 26 countries. It embodies a shared conviction: protecting children and youth from climate and health impacts requires collective action that transcends individual organizations and national boundaries, while placing local solutions at the center of systemic change.

My Child Matters Community Legacy

One mission. One community. Infinite impact. Each year, the My Child Matters International Experts Committee convenes with grantees and strategic partners from around the globe - united in their commitment to children with cancer. Through focused workshops, peer mentorship and collaborative problem-solving, this annual gathering sharpens every project, amplifies every voice and builds the partnerships that drive lasting change. It doesn't just improve programs. It transforms people - equipping frontline leaders with the tools, the network and the resilience to face even the most challenging situations with confidence. Because when we stand together, every child or youth stands a better chance.

By working in partnership with the World Health Organization and Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi), we have improved treatment outcomes, simplified disease management in developing the first one a day treatment and are on the verge of the elimination of sleeping sickness in humans by 2030. This partnership and our donation of treatments reflects our mission to provide innovative therapies to patients, no matter where they live.
